CHARACTER LIST for Utena the Musical
CAST LIST:
SHADOW GIRLS A and B - They serve as a Greek Chorus. They speak in parables and stories. They also exist partially outside of
the story and serve as Leaders of the Duel Chorus.
Here they are, putting on a play in the first ep. Also notice the entrance to the dueling arena on the other page. Here's another of them with Saionji on the other page doing what he does best.
UTENA TENJOU - Naive, 15 year old girl trying to find the "prince" who saved her in her childhood. She comes to Ohtori, since
the crest on her ring looks like the school crest.

WAKABA SHINOHARA - 15 years old. A friend from Utena's childhood. She gets caught up in this whole dueling mess, but is
mostly in the dark about the true meaning of everything. A little clingy.

KYOUICHI SAIONJI - 17 years old. Vice President to the Student Council. Cold, emotional, but not very calculating. At the
start of the story, he has won the right to the Rose Bride. His goal when he obtains the power to revolutionize the world is
to "obtain eternity".

TOUGA KIRYUU - 17 years old. President to the Student Council. Known as the "playboy" of the campus, he will do anything to
achieve his goal. Almost Caeser-like in his ambitious plots.

ANTHY HIMEMIYA - 15 years old. Rose Bride presiding over the duels. She knows a lot more than she seems and her simplicity
seems to be a mask.

JURI ARISUGAWA - 17 years old. Representative of student body to the Student Council. She's got a hidden crush on Touga, but
tries to be calm, cool, and collective. Captain of the fencing team. Her goal with "revolution" is to obtain "the power of
miracles".

MIKI KAORU - 13 years old. Secretary to the Student Council. Very intellegent, the most intellegent in the school. Also a
brilliant pianist and learning to fence under Juri. His "revolution" will bring him "something that shines".

DIOS/AKIO OHTORI - Already dead/19
years old. Two sides of the same coin. Dios saved Utena back in the day. Keep in mind, Dios means "God" in Spanish...
Akio is the fiancee to the Headmaster's daughter and is Acting Headmaster. He's the older brother of Anthy and turns
out to be "Ends of the World". When Dios died, the world gave birth to Akio, whose kanji (the ornate Chinese characters) can be read
as "the Morning Star" aka Lucifer.

CHORUS (In black, perhaps covered in roses like the
actual musical, just like nicer stagehands. I like to think of it as the Kabuki technique of if you're in black, you're
invisible hands of fate)
